I am a User Experience Designer by profession. Being an expert in Information Architecture, Interaction Design and Interface Design; I design websites and applications for digital media - the web, mobile and tablets.
Yet, I see myself as more of a generalist, as I am equally comfortable with Graphic Design, UI Development or Photography. Being able to wear multiple hats makes design more interesting. Having worked with both large companies and start-ups over the past 11 years, I know what it means to follow a meticulous design process, yet remain nimble.
Above is a picture of what I'd call perfect riding conditions. A ride out on the open road is when I get to stretch my legs. Thundering up a windy mountain pass is what really gives me a rush. Camera over my shoulder. I ride the wilderness. Off road, crunching gravel, crossing streams. Spent a lot of time with maps, exploring places and chalking out routes. I’ve ridden all over the Western Ghats. The towering cliffs put me in perspective and keep me grounded. Being able to see in all directions from high up, takes my breath away. Music lets me ride the contours of human thought, slipping into ravines I’ve never been in, and at times surface up with answers. Patterns and symbols never fail to intrigue me, always trying to say something but keeping most unsaid.
My interests range wide. History, symbolism, anthropology, ancient scripts, geography, futurist theories, science, geometry, numbers, all these make up my random reading list. Design principles and typography are subjects I hold dear. Whenever anything catches my eye I take a moment and see. The next, my mind is racing to analyze what makes it special, trying to pin it with design theories and making associations. Yet, sometimes I feel it is best to let them be, and live the moment. This is the way I learn. The works of Stanley Kubrick, Agira Kurosawa, Majid Majedi, Milos Foreman, Kuvempu, Tejaswi, John Lennon and David Attenborough among others, have certainly cast an impression. Among designers I have drawn inspiration from the likes of Dieter Rams, Jonathan Ive, John Maeda, Khoi Vinh and Philip Starke. Still, the way I look at things is distinct. Yet, what is constantly me, is the fact that it is constantly changing. Evolving.
